Kissing it Better

June’s song

October 2021

June is in her 80s, and lives in a care home in London. She was feeling very low after a bout of pneumonia landed her in hospital. But when she got home and opened her iPad, there was a beautiful surprise waiting for her: a musical message from 15-year-old KiB student Alexandra…
Here’s what June had to say: “When I got back from hospital, there were no flags flying for me, but who could want for more when I have so many friends on Zoom. I am hoping to be reunited with you all later this week. I cannot express what all the get well messages and Alexandra’s beautiful song have meant to me. I just wish I could spread my arms that wide to give you all the biggest HUG, but better still how about if I try growing two new legs and do an unexpected walk to you all. Night night God bless to each and everyone of you.”
She also wrote this poem:
When I opened my email there waiting for June
A melody so bright with an awesome tune
Email is great when you are feeling low
But I wish all my fingers were not so slow
That email to me had come from Millie
Who always looks so fresh and pretty
But it is to Alexandra I send  many good wishes
I would love to give her, big hugs and kisses
I will play my song from morn till night
Making me feel so happy and bright
Although I know we are all so far apart
Everyone of you there has a place in my heart
God bless you all and keep you well
A great big thank you for being so swell .
